Ravi: I used to visit your family (1973-74) whenever I dropped by to see my friend KG Rama, your neighbor in Beasant Nagar. You were a toddler then. Your mother, Lalitha was very friendly, hospitable, and easy to get along with. I played cricket with your dad as part of Kannada Balaga outing. It is nice to see you in the film with gorgeous Lakshmi. Your blog did evoke pleasant memories of my stay in Chennai.

hello there,
this is indeed a lovely song. I am tamilian living in karnataka all my life...and i have memories of kannada songs that are so inseparable from bangalore- the old bangalore that we have known...thats slowly disappearing of course.
during my graduate studies in the US, three oldie segments saved my life..hindi oldies from the 50s, 60s...and tamil and kannada from the 70s-80s.
:)
this song also intrigues me because this was maniratnams old expression- mother/son relationship that are bittersweet, also somewhat exploring an Oedipus complex in its lyrics...very mature song...friendship, motherliness...multidimensional...
and then, years later he made another tamil movie in which he explored thru a song, mother-daughter love-hate relationships...so the time span in btw, the ideas in a filmmakers psyche, and the way they emerge in the genre of cinema- i think its absolutely stunning

I agree, this is a wonderful song, both the lyrics and the tune are captivating. I would be grateful, if someone could post the lyrics for this whole song
